Education
I earned my bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from University of California, Berkeley in 2017. During my time at Berkeley, I worked in the Conboy laboratory, primarily studying a nano-particle delivery method to treat muscular dystrophy with CRISPR/Cas9, a cutting-edge, robust gene editing system. The culmination of this work led to a publication in the scientific journal, Nature Biomedical Engineering. I applied to the UC Berkeley-UCSF joint bioengineering PhD program in December of 2017 and am awaiting a decision to come in March of 2018. If accepted, I will begin my PhD program at Berkeley and UCSF in the fall of 2018.
Experience
I have tutored math and science on my own through Craigslist for the last four years. Additionally, I have been a tutor through Take Lessons since August of 2017, and I encourage prospective students to read my reviews on my Take Lessons profile. I am qualified to teach middle school, high school, and college-level mathematics and science courses. I have tutored math ranging from arithmetic to vector calculus and linear algebra, and science courses such as general chemistry, physics (mechanics and electricity and magnetism), and general biology. Additionally, I have taken courses in organic chemistry, immunology, physiology, molecular biology, molecular transport, biomechanics, cell engineering, systems biology, drug delivery, and material properties. Therefore, my knowledge of cell biology and physics is extensive, and I am always eager to talk about and teach these concepts to anyone who will listen.

Hobbies
I majored in biomedical engineering because I felt a moral responsibility to use my abilities to help find cures for genetic diseases, and I enjoy biological sciences very much. However, my true passion lies in mathematics, physics, and cosmology. I spend as much free time as I can squeeze out of my day advancing my knowledge in physics and math, and I never pass up an opportunity to watch interesting and mind-blowing videos on space and the formation of the universe. Additionally, I love to read, and so when I feel like my mind needs a break from absorbing new science, I love to read classic literature. My favorite book by far is the Count of Monte Cristo, but I also enjoy the work of John Steinbeck. Interestingly, before I returned to school to study bioengineering. I was a professional car audio installer. I love Japanese and European cars, racing, drifting, and of course autosound. I spent nearly ten years installing and fabricating custom sound systems for Porsches, Mercedes, Lamborghinis and Ferraris at a company called La Jolla Audio in San Diego.
